It’s almost turkey time once again! Whether you are hosting the big Thanksgiving feast at your home or you are heading to a family member’s, it will help you to know how to effectively assist during carving, cleanup, and more.
Thanksgiving Hacks
When there’s chaos in the kitchen, it’s easy to let things get out of control. Pretty soon your turkey is overcooking, the green bean casserole is getting cold, pots and pans are everywhere, and you have grease clogging your drain. Instead of throwing up your hands and going out to dinner next year, try these Thanksgiving hacks to get you through the holiday:
Hack #1: Pour any grease into a glass jar and save it for cooking with later – or toss it in the trash. You don’t want to clog your drain with grease or have hot grease melting your garbage bag – so saving it for later or containing it and letting it cool before you toss it is a better option.
Hack #2: Double layer trash bags. Thanksgiving is a big meal which makes for heavy bags. Additionally – if you have a pet – put a lid on your trash can and place it somewhere where your dog or cat can’t get into it.
Hack #3: Roast two smaller turkeys. If you have a lot of people coming over – or you like leftovers – roast two smaller turkeys instead of one enormous one. You’ll cut down on cooking time and make the bird easier to manage.
Hack #4: Set up a soaking station for dirty pots and pans. You can buy a clean trash can and fill it with sudsy water to create a spot for all those dirty pots and pans – while still leaving your sink free.
Hack #5: Try to cook food in the container you want to place on the table. Unless you plan on presenting the meal in your finest china, you may want to cook your food in a nice, ovenproof container.
Thanksgiving is supposed to be a fun holiday! Hopefully, these hacks make your Thanksgiving a happy one! And, of course, if you have any difficulties with clogged drains over this holiday season, you can count on Clog Busters to help. Contact us anytime for 24/7 service.
